Local residents are invited to provide their input regarding various proposals for the Interstate 10 Corridor Project.
The proposals include the options of toll lanes and carpool lanes being added to a section of the I-10 Freeway in San Bernardino County, including Fontana.
Some of the proposals have already generated controversy, but no final decisions have been made.
The draft environmental impact report/draft environmental impact statement (DEIR/DEIS) has been published by San Bernardino Associated Governments (the county’s transportation agency) on its website, and the public comment period for the project is now open.
From April 25 to June 8, the public has an opportunity to formally comment on the project through the DEIR/DEIS.
All comments must be and will be addressed by state law in the final environmental impact report.
The online report is at http://www.sanbag.ca.gov/projects/mi_fwy_I-10-corridor.html.
In addition, hard copies of the DEIR/DEIS are available for review at several county libraries, including the Lewis Library and Technology Center at 8437 Sierra Avenue in Fontana.
Also, three public hearings regarding the proposals will be held at locations along the I-10 corridor:
• Tuesday, May 17 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the San Bernardino DoubleTree Hotel, 285 East Hospitality Lane, San Bernardino;
• Wednesday, May 18 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bloomington Senior Center, 18313 Valley Boulevard in Bloomington;
• Thursday, May 19 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ontario Airport Hotel, 700 North Haven Avenue in Ontario.
